Rescue 118 came into Galway hospital tonight, took off after half hour and then in comes Rescue 115 to the hospital, despite scanning all the usual airband freq for Shannon there was no contact made on the usual freq 124.700, 127,500 or Shannon tower from either 118 or 115, surely they would not be operating tetra on the Airband freq how would other aircraft hear them if there was an incident etc. Anyone know if they have they new freqs in Shannon

I've heard both the coast guard helicopter and air ambulance operating on Shannon frequency before.

Around Dublin, Waterford, Shannon, and Galway hospital.

So dont think they're on Tetra. Although, I'm sure they have Tetra radio to talk to ambulance control but thats unrelated to their ATC movements.

They are operating Tetra on the marine channels now you will rarely hear them on marine.

Certain wouldn't be talking to Shannon tower going into Galway. Most likely talking to Galway tower or 123.45.

Most likely talking to Galway tower

I am open to correction but Galway is gone so why would he be talking to their Tower.

Its now FIR so 127.5 is the correct frequency?

Its the Airport fire/police vehicle you see going up and down the runway doing airside inspections for FOD.

Galway Airport is gone indeed. Closed since November 2013.

ATC are not on Marine frequencies or on Tetra. For UCHG, all traffic is now on 127.5 as it's now Class G airspace within Shannon FIR 24/7. Galway Zone is gone.

I forgot about that. Thanks for that.
