The bad news for you is that the nearest hotels, particularly the affordable ones book out immediately after the concert tickets go on sale, sometimes people book rooms before they even get the tickets.

The good news is that the O2 is on the red luas line so it expands your area a lot.

Your first port of call should be to check Jury's Inn in the IFSC, that's the best value nearby hotel to the O2.

After that I'd look at the Maldron in Smithfield, The Plaza in Tallaght, CityWest Hotel or The Louis Fitzgerald hotel on the Naas Road, handy for Luas stops but out of the city centre so therefore likely to be cheaper.

Ashling hotel by Heuston station is on the luas also.

The Pearse Hotel (think it used be Holiday Inn) on Pearse st is 'cheap and cheerful' according to a friend who stayed there recently. It's about a 10/15 minute walk. Nearer to city centre too. You could get luas from Heuston to IFSC. Mixed reviews here... http://www.tripadvisor.ie/Hotel_Review-g186605-d213303-Reviews-The_Pearse_Hotel-Dublin_County_Dublin.html

Have a look at StayCity apartments, usually good deals and works out cheaper then a hotel and you get a whole apartment for the same/cheaper price!

The one opposite Jervis Luas stop would be ideal as you could just hop on the luas and be at the o2 in 15 mins

    This. Much more fun.

Ps. Beyonce , Arcade Fire and the Pixes playing summer ...forget Beyonce she gheyyyyyy :D ...

Trivago.ie and look at the prices for the hotels in the area. Great website.

+1, had plenty of clients, suppliers stay in these apartments. Good value, spotless clean and central. Once you're in the city you're a short walk, taxi or Luas from the point.

Just had quick look on the stay city apartments.... for one night cheapest qoute was €366. . .

I think we're gonna go for a hotel though, breakfast and all that will be included so might as well for the one night we'll be there. .

I am visiting Dublin in November. The internet site bookings.com is good for looking for cheap prices and location (using the map) in Dublin

The luas line comes right into the O2 and goes all the way to Tallaght. If you want cheap, stay out of the city.
Some Luas go to citywest. Citywest Hotel.
In Tallaght, The Plaza, Maldron Tallaght,
On the line. Red Cow Hotel, Aisling Hotel, anywhere in Dublin 1 or 2 (city centre).
On the quays near O2 - Clarion Hotel, Jurys Inn, Maldron Hotel,
    At the O2. Gibson Hotel,

    Any more pointers, just ask.

EDIT. How are you getting up from Kerry. If driving park at Red Cow Hotel and Luas it in. If on train, Aisling hotel is across from Hueston station.
