Safe as far as we know (but long term use and trials may bring something to light, who knows?). Hundreds of times safer than cigarettes for certain.
Any toxins found to have been released though the vapour are far below the strictest workplace safety levels in Europe.
If you want to read up here's a fairly short and easy to understand study of ecig studies and what the numbers have meant (because the conclusions and media surrounding some of these studies were highly biased in trying to scandalise ecigs): http://publichealth.drexel.edu/SiteData/docs/ms08/f90349264250e603/ms08.pdf

Vaping is now so popular on a worldwide level that I'd be inclined to think that any significant adverse effects would have come through the noise at this stage.

The main ingredients of nicotine vapourisers have been in usage for a long time and have been well studied and documented.

They are propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. As far as I know these are the same ingredients in niteclub smoke machines and ashma inhalers. Nicotine itself isn't harmful unless you've got a heart condition, it's about the same effects as caffeine has, temporary and nothing harmful.

The only real question marks are the flavourings. While the effects of vapourising flavourings are mainly know and some food safe flavourings are not safe for vaping so are banned from vaping, you never know. In dozens of years time we may find something out, some flavouring that's being used in one or a few of the liquids out there could have some degree of danger to it I guess. But as far as we know right now for examining the compounds and the vapour you inhale and exhale, there's nothing in them any more dangerous than walking down Dublin city sidewalk and breathing normally.

Compared to smoking which you basically flip a coin and ask heads cancer and a painful death, tails and I should be grand. Then ask if nicotine vapourisers are safe then the answer is definitely, switch to nicotine vapourisers now please. That or go cold turkey. Me I need something to inhale while I drink. Nicotine vapourisers were the answer I was always looking for. I would implore you to implore anyone you know to get on them. :)
