Since updating to Mavericks I have encountered endless problems with Mail , with the update to fix them making things worse, main problems are :

Huge delay on receiving mails , anything from an 10 mins to hours delay (IMAP account , not gmail)
    Duplicate emails

The mails come in straight away on the iPhone but not the mac , can anyone recommend a good mail client that will transfer all my mails from Apple Mail and that works well for IMAP ?

    Thanks PP

I've read discussions that recommend moving to POP?

The reason for IMAP is I work off my Mac, iPhone and someone in the office keeps an eye on the iPad also ,

If I go back to POP , I wont know if a mail has been opened , replied to or what was said .

It worked flawlessly for years until Mavericks

Have you updated Mavericks recently? There was a mail update a few weeks back.

I agree, the update has made things worse.

I've tried Sparrow Mail but I'm not happy with it either and it's showing the same symptoms of OSX Mail.

    :(

From looking and reading reviews online I think Postbox may be the one for me , Ive downloaded the 30 day trial and am going to give a try ,

Its business essential for me so I need something solid so I dont mind paying the 40-50 buck for it ,

Airmail is supposed to be another great option , that comes in at €2 !

Sparrow, which I have, is discontinued. I don't think there'll any updates and fixes in the pipeline.

They describe Airmail as being "based on thte discountinued Sparrow Mail"

Here's the same reviewer taking a look at Postbox.

FWIW one of the writers at 9to5mac suggests removing all your mail accounts and setting them up again. Seems to have fixed his issues, and I'm going to try it myself.

My wife's Mac had endless Mail troubles (3 IMAP Gmail accounts, but only on 10.8 because it's a 2006 Mac) - I deleted all the mail accounts and set them up again and, after the 5-6 hours of downloading mail, everything worked perfectly.

If you've migrated your data from a different Mac, or upgraded your OS, I'd try this before anything else (once you've confirmed that your mail client hasn't been removing the mails from the server as they arrive!).
