I see this on the calendar for April 6th.
Anyone done this before or have a link with info?
What's it like, 2 or 3 stages, TT etc? Hilly, flat?
    Cheers,
    Slo

its new for this year. Ive done the regular tour of connacht the last two years and its a tough race. I persume the stages will be similar but shorter. The roads are pretty tough around castlebar, not so much climbing but lots of drags and more than likely the second stage will finish on the Windy Gap (2k with 20% bits), like the regular race as I know the organisers and know they love that climb :P

If its the same TT course itll be on the old Junior Tour TT course from upto 2 years ago, which isnt too bad. A few lumps but nothing major, a strongman TT

Thanks for that. Any chance of route profiles? This could be a runner...

I uploaded them on Strava, if thats alright.
Stage 1: http://www.strava.com/activities/70234918 lashing rain, finished 14th in the bunch 1:30 down on break with Sherlock, Hooton, Meade, Coen and Prendergast

Stage 2a TT: http://www.strava.com/activities/70465888 avg enough for a road bike. There is a Kom that has the JT times aswell the TOC times somewhere but i wasnt on it :(

    Stage 2b: http://www.strava.com/activities/70465885 Sufferfest. 30th(ish) on stage

I was fairly happy considering about 70 started and around 40 finished :D

Thanks a lot. If I'm still A4 at that stage, (which is looking more and more likely as the winter goes on) I'll give it a go.

Cheers for the detail. Is it run by Castlebar CC?

No bother! I think Connacht Cycling run it offically but more or less it is Castlebar

Hate that climb, was part of the Humbert challenge Tri last year and whilst I thought it was tough I didn't resort to zig zagging my way up some parts like some others did.

Anyone know the format for Ras Maigh Eo. Last year it was a TT and the next day a road race. I see them on the 2014 calendar as Day 1 and Day 2. Is this a stage race now? Anyone?

Cheers. It's just the one race on the Sunday for A4?

It'd be great if the A4 was a 2 day stage too. Is this possible?
