    Hi guys,

Having picked up a Wii U just before xmas I've now got the chance to look at the Wii back catalogue which I pretty much completely missed out on.

I've bought a few games so far:

Mario Galaxy (I'll buy Galaxy 2 when I get round to playing the first one)
    Ghost Squadron
    House of the Dead
    Resident Evil 4
and one or two more I just cant think of right now.

Anyway my question is am I missing out on any games in particular?

Classic must owns or hidden gems??

I know I could look these up but I'm sure you guys will guide me in the right direction instead. :)

    Cheers!

    Master of the Universe

    Two definite must haves;

    Sin and Punishment 2
    Xenoblade Chronicles

Apart from those mentioned (mario and re4 especially) best game on the system for me was Metroid Prime trilogy. Massive timesink and got lost in it for days! I really liked Zelda Twilight princess (my first zelda) and the conduit (not so much the sequel) also Prince of persia forgotten sands was a completely new story not available anywhere else (a must have if you are a fan) I probably bought more Gamecube games for it than anything as it was my frist nintendo console.

    Classics:

Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise - Great rhythm game, best in the series since the GBA game.
Boom Blox - Surprisingly great physics based puzzler. Great multiplayer as well. Think a non **** version of angry birds mixed with jenga in 3D
    Donkey Kong Country Returns
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (in case you missed it on Gamecube)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - Good luck finding it for a decent price
    Kirby's Adventure Wii
    Kirby's Epic Yarn
Klonoa - great update of the PS1 classic
    Last Story
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mario Kart Wii - I kind of liked it, others don't
Metroid: Other M - just ignore the story
Metroid Prime Trilogy (or just prime 3 if you have the first 2)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - one of the very best 2D mario games, up there with 3 and world
    Pandora's Tower
Punch Out - it's a really good update, plays very like the NES classic
    Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles
    Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Sin and Punishment 2 - epic rail shooter from Treasure
Super Smash Bros Brawl - the purists can shut up. This is a lot of fun
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom - if you like fighters this is one of the best
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    Zack and Wiki

    Hidden Gems:

    Another Code R
    Baroque
Batman: Brave and the Bold - great 2D wayforward game
A Boy and his Blob - another great wayforward game
    Endless Ocean
Endless Ocean: Blue World - two great and very relaxing scuba games
Fragile Dreams - it annoys with bad combat but makes up for it in atmosphere story and them feels :'(
Goldeneye - I quite liked this update.
Lost in Shadow - More interesting than good, think it's called shadow's tale in europe
    Madworld
    Mercury Meltdown Revolution
Muramasa: The Demon Blade (better off with the vita verison)
    No More Heroes
    No More Heroes 2
Opoona - a very earthbound RPG let down by poor localisation
Prince of Persia:The Forgotten Sands - a different game from the 360/PS3 game
    Sakura Wars
Shiren the Wanderer - US only rogue-like but one of the best ever made
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - far better than other recent entries to the series
Sonic Colours - it's not mario but it is fun
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World - fun but dodgy story and awful main character
    Trauma Centre - New Blood
    Trauma Centre - Second Opinion
    Trauma Team
Wario Land ShakeDimension - fun but not a patch on the warioland games
    Super Paper Mario
    Dead Space Extraction
    House of the Dead Overkill
    Little Kings Story

    WiiWare:

    La Mulana
    World of Goo
    Blaster Master Overdrive
    Contra Rebirth
    Castlevania Rebirth
    Cave Story
    Hydroventure
    Lost Winds 1 and 2
    Megaman 9 and 10

Metroid and Zelda Twilight Princess I have already. They were two I forgot I had.
Conduit looks good and Prince of Persia I've never tried so might worth a shot. cheers!

    Take your time.
I started building my Wii collection over the last 18 months and have almost everything on the first list barring two.
No panic or big spending, just patiently watching eBay and Amazon, not to mention Adverts, and then picking up 2 or 3 a month.
Before you know it you'll own the lot.
Even the very expensive ones like Metroid Prime Trilogy come along at reasonable prices from time to time.

Its not good at all, listen to the man.
If you want to play a trad fps then the conversions of the Modern Warfare titles are pretty decent. Look nice too.

    I think that's sound advice.

I'm in no rush. Less gaming time now than ever so goin to start with the games I want to play most and buy them gradually. Also don't have the cash these days to bulk buy.

I'll give conduit a miss by the sounds of it cheers.

Must get a few more NGPC games as well in time for my summer playing outside.

There doesn't seem to be a trajectory of price increase going on with Wii games and they can almost all be found at reasonable prices.
The big three RPGs were supposed to be hideously expensive but I got them for less then 30 each.
Some cracking games so enjoy taking the time to perusing shop shelves and Sunday market stalls, those games will be waiting for you!

I really enjoyed it. After a slow start it really got going and was an interesting story with great controls. Best fps on wii for me. if you get it for a fiver somewhere why not? Sorry!

Tbf the next fps I'm buyin will more than likely be Destiny considering in quite the halo fan.
Maybe Titanfall if the reviews are good.

I still play the odd game of Halo 4 but rare enough these days. Got some serious value out of that title though it has to be said. Probably more so with Halo 3.

The best first person game on the Wii were the Metroid Prime titles.
In fact, I'd consider them to be the best first person games of the generation, no hyperbole.

true but they are more than just shooters!

And that is why, of you check the quote again, I didn't say shooter.
I said they were first person games.
    But you knew that.... Right?

    ;)

I totally missed on all the wii goodness.

In fact i never even owned nintendo hardware until I bought the Super Famicom over a year ago!

And to be honest that gets little use compared to the Megadrive, which has a lot more action titles and violence which suits me well. :) (err, not that im violent or anything! Quite the opposite!)

Donkey King Country returns looks amazing btw! Very faithful to the original.

Im definitely due to give nintendo a bit more love in the future.

I did indeed but I differentiated because I had (IMO) stated The Conduit was a really good FPS but all semantics aside Murphy needs to get the Metroid Prime trilogy ASAP! :p

I looked at my little collection of Wii games again last night.

I have Metroid Prime 3, Corruption I think it is.

I think I'll get the other two metriod prime games before starting on the third one.

In fairness Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess are probably top of my list at the moment when I get a chance to get into them.

Tempted to try playing them on the Wii U Gamepad. I dont think I'll get the telly time in particular for Twilight Princess. :(

It does, but you still have to use the Wii mote...so it's like playing the Wii on a tiny tv.

yeah its not ideal dont get me wrong but seriously dont know when I'll get the tv time otherwise so it'll go unplayed unless I do it this way for now.

Realistically I only get a couple of hours tv time if I'm lucky each week for gaming. And even that could be interupted at any point from the missus or child wanting to watch something.

Would be great if Nintendo made it properly playable on the gamepad. Cant see it happening anytime soon though. :(
