I have recently been called for an interview with Glanbia for the Business Information Systems graduate programme.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips or knowledge about the interview as I don't know what to expect?

Does anyone know what the starting salary is for a graduate with Glanbia?

    Thanks

I would be interested in any tips people had also. I've been called for an interview as part of their IT/Computer Science graduate programme.

Is it too late to apply for this?

Still appears to be open on the website, all I can find is that applications close in January.

Id an interview with them and tbh, I had done my homework on the company as it was a org that I really wanted to join. Nonetheless, I felt that both interviewers from near the offset had no more interest in what I had to say and that they just didn't seem to like me that much and someone I know also felt that were the case. I am prob not the right person to be asking on that experience but I found it very demeaning. But advice wise, Id say just know your CV and be able to explain why your the best basically using past experiences. Alas, from what I recall there were a few standard competency questions asked so just have a few answers practiced beforehand in that regard.

Thank you Crossroads101, that can happen in interviews, its just a learning curve I guess!

Do you or anyone else have information about any of the following for the Glanbia grad program?

    -Salary
    -Tricky Interview Questions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 Crossroads101

    Hi

Yeah I'm not sure exactly on what the salary is per se but I know as graduate roles go its competitive

As for questions, they asked why you chose the course you chose, what you benefited from it, why glanbia, what do you think the future holds for the company etc etc

In my experience, some questions led to other questions so try and get them to engage in conversation you fully perfectly capable on talking about.

As for my experience, I took an expansive view of the organisation and mentioned the opportunities and strategic growth areas that could see them thrive in the next few years - with a particular emphasis on their investments in the performance nutrition space in the US. They had no interest and probably knew very little about what I was talking about

    Thanks a million!!

Yes, that could have very well have been a problem, do you know if it was a panel of HR people interviewing you or were there any people from another working department in Glanbia?

    Hey Everyone,

Applied for this year's graduate programme, anyone know when you would hear about the next stage of the process after you have applied?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 Crossroads101

Will be a while,, i applied around xmas time and was asked for interview in May

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 MC2403

It says the deadline is next week so I was hoping it would be sooner, oh well! Is an interview the first stage? Or aptitude tests first?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 d2014

The deadline is 22nd (which is today)

I'd imagine you will find out if you have a phone interview this week or next week. If you pass that you go to Kilkenny for an interview

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 MC2403

Oh it says 28th on Glanbia website but 22nd on GradIreland. Fingers crossed we get a call!

Just got a call today (Sunday morning on the bank holiday weekend.....) for the first and second round interview for Tues 4th in Kilkenny, I was told this involves a coding exam, anyone else in the same boat as me? and if so......what the hell are we to prepare for a coding exam, it isn't even a coding role!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 MC2403

That's great you got a call! What programme did you apply for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 neeraj_jain

Even I got a call from them on Sunday morning. They told me that I have been selected and called for an interview on 4th Nov. But they didn't mention anything about a coding exam, mostly cause I applied for a business role.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 d2014

I think if you applied for a business role you must do an aptitude test that's sent out at some stage this week!

What does the business role include do you know? :)

Yes, There will be an online aptitude test before the interview.

Don't have much idea about what their business roles include.

I also got a call for the 4th off them over the weekend for the Information Technology Graduate Programme, had to do a programming online assessment for them. I was told there is a welcome briefing in the morning and the 1st and 2nd round interviews were then in the afternoon, anybody know if the welcome briefing is mandatory or not? cause I'd be hard pushed to make it there for it on time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 MC2403

If ye don't mind me asking, was it the HR programme any of ye who got calls applied for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 142 ✭✭shygal

I've applied to the 'marketing graduate role' and I've heard nothing back so far. Anyone else get a call for this role?

What kinda coding exam did you have? They sent me a programming assessment I needed to do, which I made a complete balls of :pac: wondering should I even bother traveling up for the interview now as I essentially have no hope, no matter how good the interview goes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 d2014

@mr.noobie, I wouldn't worry. There's 2 interviews to follow, and plus, this is the 1st year there's a coding exam. They never stated on the application that the position would have anything to do with computer programming so it's not as if they have the upper hand. If it was a programmatic role and was advertised as that, it would be all programmers applying - there's a LOT of programmers around

Which role did you apply for? I went for the Information Technology one myself and I honestly cant recall if programming was a requirement on the application for it

I applied for the same as you but when I got the phonecall I was asked was it for a business role or technical role I applied for...I didnt really know what the person was on about, as the only thing I remembered applying for was the IT one in general. I was told the technical one included a programming exam so needless to say I told them throw me down for a business one! Dont know what the difference is to be honest....pretty thrown over it, I'll know the basic interview stuff and a bit about the company and that's all, no idea what role its for or anything, very little you can do to prepare

Suppose your right I'll go to the interview all the same and just see what happens, do you know if the welcome briefing in the morning is mandatory? I'd have no way of making it to Kilkenny that early and the interview itself ain't till like 3 anyway

Do, you don't know until you get there! I would not say so, it is probably just to outline how the day is organized (how they facilitate for mass amounts of people being interviewed etc)

Hotels are going cheap for about 50 bucks the night before - might be an option

I'll probably just give it a miss so doesn't sound like it'll make much difference one way or the other

Hi there, just been called for testing and first round interview on the engineering stream on the 19th November. Anybody from any other streams have any advice? I know the theme is "Pure Ambition" and would imagine the first round interviews will focus on displaying this? All help greatly appreciated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 SE2015

Did my interview for GBS stream last week got offered this week. Interview was a good expereince. Panel of two and focused on my CV a lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 PCunning1990

Oh right sounds fair enough, the interview I have on the 19th is only a first round so I'm imagining be mostly focus on my CV and back ground. Have they carried the the theme of "Pure Ambition" through the question? Thanks again in advance :P

Well both my rounds happened on the same day but the second round is more like a chat about your future aspirations.
Yes they did ask "Pure Ambition" based questions such as what type of leader you are? Do you embrace change such as travelling away on short notice? etc Just be yourself and know some current news about glanbia such as the new gluten free factory just built.

Has anybody received an offer for the IT grad programme yet? They said that the offers are today (25th November) but a few of us haven't heard a thing yet.

Sorry to bump this up, has anyone heard back from their interviews yet?how long should I expect a result?
I had mine last week for the IT Business Analyst, it went really well however I'm getting a few calls about positions elsewhere. I really like the role and development plan set out by glanbia ahead of those who have contacted me. I dont want to loose out on potential opportunities either tho

I interviewed on the 11th of November and got a rejection on 26th Nov for accounting and finance if that helps

What ever you do don't rely on getting this job. Glanbia are notorious for the who you know, to get a position . I applied years ago for IT positions that I'm well qualified for and not even a reply . Keep on applying for other positions and best of luck:)

They are notoriously bad at getting back to people. The HR process takes forever, almost 6 months back when I was hired there. Word of warning - whether or not that development plan will materialise will be completely based on the department you're placed in. Best of luck!
