Really depends what she wants it for. Mileage she will be doing, what type of capacity she needs (Kids, work etc) and the budget she is willing to spend.

Alot of people fall into the trap of saying 'Well, I had a X before, so I'll buy something exactly like an X now' when in the fact they need something half the size etc etc.

Personally I'd go with the fiat bravo ( you do mean bravo ) ?

Their 1.4 turbo is a great engine and their cars are more reliable than anything from the Volkswagen Audi Group today !

The bravo was a really underrated car IMHO. You can get them at great prices too.

2nd would be the Mazda 3 if you can get one with a real Mazda engine ? They are really fords these days and I don't like fords.

The rest. The, are just plain boring and I wouldn't have anything French of that era either.

The Prius would be one of the most reliable cars you can get! and can be got for around 5,000 even with 100,000 miles they are still one of the most reliable you'll find on the road today, with a full service history they will go forever.

The Prius is automatic and can easily do 55 mpg and 60-64 with practice.

It needs a lot less maintenance than most diesels and has no timing belt. The battery lasts the life of the car, 350,000 miles and more.
