Unaired Pilots

Having recently read the Locke & Key comic I checked to see if the tv pilot was available online. But it isn't.

So I was wondering, is there a reason studios don't release their unaired pilots on itunes or some other means to try and make back some of the money spent? Maybe not original series but with adapted shows that have a fanbase in place, like Locke & Key.

From what I remember, when Aquaman was released on itunes it was really successful so why not do it with other pilots? Is it a rights issue?

there are hundreads of unaired pilots online dating back to the 50's....its probably rights issues and perhaps ideas being copyrighted, used down the line or redeveloped again for another network etc.

It was later remade as Mrs. Browns Boys. They took the superpowers out and left the jokes in.

Then there's the US Red Dwarf pilot.

But I think it would be smart for the studios to attempt to make the money back by making pilots available themselves instead of getting leaked copies.

I'm sure there are pilots that haven't been released that people would be interested in, like Locke & Key

Global Frequency is an excellent pilot....and 95% of the effects shots are done, and done to very high quality: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xst1jz_global-frequency-2005-unaired-pilot_shortfilms

You should also look out for the Lost In Space pilot....see a very beautiful Wonder Woman.
