Free fees for third go?

Hey I was wondering if anyone could clear this up for me?

Come September, it will be 5 years since I previously attended a course and received the grant; that course was my second bite of the cherry, so to speak. As a mature student I'm now considering returning to follow on a new course. Last September, when the thought initially arose, I thought I saw some legislation stating that, after 5 years outside of third-level education, a person was applicable to re-apply to a new course under the free fees initiative. For the life of me, I cannot find this information now..

So! My question is: Does this clause actually exist, or did I just have a REALLY vivid, if somewhat mundane, dream one night?

Yes it is possible after 5 years to be treated as what is called a second chance student

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

You would need to check with the college fees office
