Hi all, we are thinking of going for a 2 week trip on safari to Kenya next October.

Can anyone please advise on the required vaccination/approximate costs of same.

I know that the GP is the best person to ask but I just wanted a heads up in advance.

    Many thanks.

Tropical Medical Bureau will give you an indication of what is recommended, there's a price list on the site also so you can see what kind of ballpark you'd be looking at. They do tend to be more expensive than GP's or other clinics so the advice would be to visit your clinic/GP with the prices in mind.

Todd, thank you for a very sound reply, that's exactly the info I was after, Killbill should take an example from you :-)

I actually found the TMB slightly cheaper than a GP especially if you arr getting shots that require more than one injection eg Hep B or rabies as they only charge for one doc visit.

We found TMB much cheaper than our GP and another GP specialising in travel vaccines.
You can call and ask for prices for specific vaccinations, compare prices and go from there. If you have VHI you can also book your appointment online and that gives you an additional 15% discount on the TMB prices.
If you're wondering about ballpark figures for vaccinations for a particular destination then the tmb.ie website is quite good for that. You can select destinations you want to go to and it will give you list of recommended vaccines, of course what you actually get may differ slightly when you talk to the doctor about your length of stay, urban vs rural, planned activities etc...
