ok, gonna buy a cheapish tablet and really want a 10". Am no expert at all on the specs that come with Tab's so looking for some advice on these 2 which have being heavily discounted at DID.ie (I searched and cannot find any threads on these particular models recently)

€99 (down from €180) but low storage
    http://www.did.ie/gotab-lite-10-single-core-internet-tablet-gbt10l-prd

€27 more but with extra storage, cameras etc
    http://www.did.ie/gotab-10-android-internet-tablet-gbt10bk-prd

I'll not be doing too much with these other than surfing the web, maybe load up some apps for long journeys etc.

    Are these any good?

Single core. Avoid like the plague. Both have Bad resolution.

Nook HD+ @ 175 from littlewoods is the best big budget tablet going. Maybe Nexus 7 for a small tablet.

Is that Nook only available through their UK site? Cannot see it on the .ie version

They're a bad tablet to be honest!

I was in the same boat a few months ago, thought the prices were good, so I bought a 9" GoTab off DID.

It was worse than useless, it literally wouldn't do anything..

I contacted GoTab head-quarters who assured me that the tablet should work better, so they advised I get a replacement, DID replaced it no bother, but the 2nd tablet was just as bad, it just froze every time it was turned on. It seemed to hate Gmail the most, not a notion would it ever open an email..

I gave both tablets a chance, had them each for about 2 weeks but after a few days of each I just gave up coz it was so frustrating!

I got my money back after that.

So for your own sake, avoid it.

    Don't go near GoTab.
I got a 9.7" model, had to be replaced as if died after a couple of weeks.
The replacement had terrible battery, only lasted about an hour. GoTab support told me this was to be expected (even though the original unit battery life was ok).
Brought it back to the retailer, they eventually gave me an 8" unit in its place. Wifi connection is terrible on it, to any wifi point.
Sits unused as I'm sick of it.

The + symbol messes up littlewoods search box hence no one can find them.

    http://www.littlewoodsireland.ie/nook-hd-16gb-9-inch-tablet---slate-black/1216529124.prd

Lucky really as you cant get them anywhere else in Ireland.

About on Par with an ipad 3 id say for speed. Better screen than an ipad 4.

    Vid here

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ykDn1srAAs
    Remember the difference in price!

Cons is theres no camera or GPS.

Theres an update to Cyanognmod Android 4.4 through rooting if you know about rooting.

Also Nook have their accessories down to a fiver with Parcelmotel. You can have a fully kitted out tablet with really good quality leather case and stylus for less than 200.

thanks for that Digital....mad that this can't be found through the Tablets section of their website.
Know nothing about rooting but can read up.

No camera is a pain but survivable

If it could be found it wouldnt be available. Well sold out id say.

The screen has to be seen to be believed.

hard to explain but look try pause at 19.06 and compare the videos playing

Its actually more fuzzy on the ipad which costs about 500 quid last time i checked.

Don't buy the single core one,the dual core one is grand. The "sale" price is misleading as they've always been around that price.

I bought a zoostorm SL8 mini2 (7") off Amazon for 68 pounds delivered before christmas.
I have to say its flippin awesome.
Dual core, 1gb Ram, 16gb storage, battery lasts about 3 hours, 1024x600.
I have not seen a sub 100 euro tablet in Ireland to match it.

I got the 10.1" Hannspad from DID in the sale for €99

    http://www.did.ie/hannspree-hannspad-10-1-quad-core-tablet-sn1at71-prd

    Back up to €169 now

I find it grand and the screen is really good quality 1280 * 800

Supposed to be a quad core processor, but the performance is definitely not what you'd expect from a quad core. A bit slow loading info in Apps / Browser but for the money I'm not disappointed.

I bought 2 just before Xmas at €169, was gutted when I seen them drop to €99 on the 27th. Tried to get another one but by 1 o clock they had all sold out. Great tablet for €169. Bargin of the year for €99.

Barnes and Noble Nook 7-inch Slate (OMAP 4470 1.3GHz Processor, 8GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Full HD 720p)

    On amazon.co.uk for £130.00

EDIT: May be better value at www.nook.co.uk.

Got the dual core 10" for the missus for Christmas. It died after 2 days and they replaced it with no argument. She seems quite happy with the replacement but if anything happens this one I'll be insisting on a refund and will try find a replacement.

Nook sell through Google play which i dont think sells to Ireland.

Littlewoods allows people to pay off by the week which is good on a budget. Its available through a lot of places in the UK no problem to pay in full.

Did you have any luck ordering accessories through parcel motel? I'm not able to make an order through the nook site

Bought the Nook HD+ about 4/5 months ago and even though I have nothing to compare it against, I think its a pretty good piece of equipment for the money.

Never freezes, battery life is good and good screen. Apps are sold through the Google play store and I have never had problems getting anything through it.

As mentioned there is no camera or GPS (I didnt really need these anyway) and you cannot download the Amazon app store. Its great for reading books bought through Amazon kindle books.

I have not bought accessories yet but I bought the tablet itself through parcel motel and had no problems either.

Pretty happy with my purchase overall

And thats before you even put on a Custom Rom. The latest Android KitKat system is now available to download and makes huge improvements.

First time order was cancelled, said there was an issue with my card company refusing the transaction. Thought it may be to do with the billing address being PM address. Now it won't let me order at all, as in if I try to pay it says there's an issue, try again later.

On the MyAccount section of the site mine is set to

    PMXXXXXX Parcel Motel
    Mallusk Newtownabbey
    co antrim BT36 4PX
    United Kingdom

Maybe the first line having PMXXXXXX and Parcel Motel makes the difference.

Try in a different browser and see if it lets you go again.

    i use Ulster Bank

They dont take the money straight away. Only take it after shipping so that part is normal.
Didnt take money for a week from me so is there any possiblilty the money wasnt there when they tried after a few days.
