House Of Fools - BBC2

House Of Fools the new sitcom from Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer starts on Tuesday January 14th @ 11.50pm on BBC2 NI (10.00pm BBC2 London).
Set in Bob Mortimer’s home, every episode of House Of Fools sees Bob frustrated by his uninvited lodgers, visitors and guests who constantly fill his house. Led by Vic - Beef, Bosh and Julie knit together each week to wreak havoc on Bob.
    ...
Just as Vic and Bob bent the rules of the panel show format, House Of Fools does the same to the studio sitcom. House Of Fools is half an hour of unadulterated Reeves & Mortimer, anarchic japes, unimaginable props and impossible situations.

I've always liked Vic and Bob so hopefully this will be good.

It looks absolutely dreadful. Like the kind if cheaply made crap you'd stumble across in the hostel of some Eastern European country back in the mid 80s.

    Anyone catch it?

Thought it was a good start - basically Vic and Bob goofing around as they did between rounds on 'Shooting Stars', on a sitcom set.

Canned laughter was a bit OTT though.

    Ah, I forgot about it.

The BBC are keen to point out that there was a studio audience

For those of you commenting on this. It's not canned laughter. It's a proper studio audience laughing during the recording. #HouseOfFools

The fact they had to put out a statement shows that this was a negative criticism for most people watching.

Basically, if you hated 'Shooting Stars', HOF would be your idea of hell.

Curse you, Vic and Bob, for giving me a hankering for pork pies all day!!

I caught the second episode, it's only OK, the audience is irritating.

Oh how I wish their Weekenders pilot had been made into a series:

2nd episode was great. It's a shame they didn't do this in the 90's.

I love it too. The closing line about Die Hard was brilliant.

    God I love Matt Berry!

Have to say, I am really enjoying it. Classic Vic and Bob style of comedy.

I can imagine it was highly entertaining watching the programme being filmed - goofing around, improvising between takes etc.

A second series has been comissioned for next year.
Episode 1 of House Of Fools attracted a strong 1.27 million viewers to BBC 2, however by Episode 6 the ratings had fallen to 0.76 million.

This prompted speculation that the show had been axed, leading to a Twitter campaign to save the show which was supported by the likes of Stephen Fry.

However, insiders have told Radio Times that "such was the level of support for the show within the BBC, a recommission was never really in doubt."

Not my cup of tea either, not clever or "zany" enough to cover up the lack of humour.
