Importing Hyundai i40

    Hi all,
looking for advice. I am looking for a new car, and have my eye on a Hyundai i40. Was looking at new, but a 2012 is on sale for a good price in a well known garage, and it's a fair bit cheaper and fully specced. Thing is, it's listed as having 12k miles and when I mentioned this to somebody they said to run a mile, as there is no way a uk car like that with two years age would have such low mileage. Was recommended to pay the extra and get a brand new Irish one for peace of mind.

Would anyone agree with this thought? I'm worried about spending a lot of money on a lemon, as this is a huge sum of money for me and I'll paying throu the nose for many years, so need to be sure that I don't get stung. I didn't know it was English til I rang the garage, and they only told me that it was uk when I asked if all went well with the finance, could I drive away the same day, they then explained I could not as it had to be registered here and that would take a few days to go through.

    Any thoughts welcome!

Do you know when in 2012 it was registered. It could be registered in December (unlikely) which would mean it would only be on the road for just over a year, in such case 12k miles would be alrite.

I don't Noccy, but I am going out to see it at the weekend, so can find that out. Was just worried that uk imports seem to make some people very wary, and I don't know any better. Cheers for the post, if it's a December reg, I'll keep your post in mind.

Thanks Colm for splitting into a new thread too.

It'd have to be a 62 reg to be regged between September and December 2012
If its 12 reg, its between March and August, and if its 61 reg (and 2012) its between January and February.

There are plenty of them about anyway with small miles for whatever reason.
