    Hey,

I just finished restoring my 1980 Toyota Landcruiser BJ40 3.0 diesel 1980 and was trying to get insurance so I could NCT it etc.

Axa quoted me 350 for tpft and 450 for comp based on 3,500 to 5,000 annual miles and a 25,000 euro value for the comp quote. This is a lot more than I'd expected to pay. Anyone got the name of a good broker or alternative insurance company?

    I'm 27 btw.

    Thanks

Aviva do a classic policy too, you might try them.

I believe classic insurance has 2 categories classed by engine size. Below 1.6 and above 1.6. Your BJ is probably the higher engine size.

When I was under 30 the insurance on a 3L classic policy was ~320€. This dropped to €185 when I turned 30. This was with Carole Nash and fully comprehensive.

I don't think Aviva (Hibernian) does classic insurance anymore. I used to be with them, Ann in Swords branch was always very helpful. Then they closed the branch and moved my insurance to third party broker.

Later on I went to AXA (Swords, just next doors) and... how they pissed me off! To get rid of me, they insulted be by offering me limited 1000 miles insurance for 800 EUR!!! The worst customer service in my life!

Carole Nash is probably your best shot - just give them a call and try.
