was in the coop today and they had a new lad employed. hes from the town. he doesn't have one clue about anything they sold in the coop bar the washing up powder. should the coops be made employ people from families who are spending in that place?

I don't think they should be made employ people from families who are spending there.
If that were the case, then it would be the guys who spend (and possible owe) the most would get their sons / daughters jobs in there... ;)

But - I would have thought that to get a job there, a half a knowledge of the products they sell would have been a requirement?

Would you not at least give him a few weeks to get up to speed before writing him off.

I would nearly prefer the lad with less knowledge that will learn and maybe improve on ways of doing things differently .
Is there anything worse than the redneck that knows everything and doesnt entertain questions about different things ?

He must've confused it with the post apocalyptic spray, easy mistake to make sure.

could be on work placement, wouldnt knock him either. I had a fella here on work placement from local secondary school- he wasnt from a farm- he was a brilliant worker and only had to tell him everything once

Remember being in the local coop here and theres one fella who knows it all. Anyway we were buying meal for a few bucket fed angus weanlings and he was going on about how we should be feeding 5Kg a head to them and if we wanted to make a right job of them we would need to give 8-10Kg a day. There was no arguing with him he was dead set and sure that we'd make our money back :pac:

I was genuinely surprised to learn there recently that one of the guys at the local COOP wasn't from a farming background. knows his stuff too. I guess he was trained properly before passing judgement.

delight to see that the age old system of nepotism is alive and well, and one wonders if the country will ever move on from the, give our one a job, or should one not get a job on their merits.

and to call or refer to someone as a donkey, well enough said, small wonder why the forum has more closed accounts than...well the local coop...
