Folks, I've been looking for a helmet to suit my larger head. I've tried the larger stores and haven't had any luck. I've mail ordered helmets but when the arrive they don't quite suit size and shape.
Is there a store or someone out there who'd be good for this. I've found that LBS's are not interested.

If a Bern Bomber would suit your taste / needs, you're welcome to try mine (size XXL) in Dublin.

I've a rather large head at 61/62cm (a bit more with hair and winter hat). I have a Giro Savant that fits very comfortably, and there's some margin. I think all Giro helmets come at an XL size. I've also tried an Specialized Echelon II, which was also very comfortable (and the straps were actually even more comfortable, but I liked the design less).

    I have a very big head and I use a Specialized helmet. I think it's a Propero?

The Giro Savant seems to be the most readily available. One of my problems is that the helmet won't sit down it just sits on the top of my head. Does the Savant come down far towards your ears.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions I'm going to have to be on the look out for them. When your big headed its hard to find the very specific brands you want.

I'm not sure I understand your question. As a general answer, I'm happy with how it sits on my head (as happy as one can be wearing a helmet :P). I think it sits in the correct way. Maybe it's more an issue with the shape of your head (less oval, more round) rather than the size only? Did you try the Specialized Echelon II? It's quite readily available in Cork, so it shouldn't be too hard to find in your part of the country.

I have a massive head, and by that I mean I've never come across a fella with a bigger one. I found the Specialized Max fits me perfectly. I got it for 29.99 sterling from Evans last year. Here is a link to the helmet:

Unfortunately my head is both large and unusually shaped. Couldn't find the Echelon.

It's hard finding models without travelling large distances. I'm based in Co. Kildare and have tried about 7 shops including 2 big ones in Dublin.

Don't be overly focused on just the size of the helmet. The fit of the helmet relative to the shape of your head really affects the size needed. I always needed a 65cm helmet but got a specialized s3 and the better fit meant the standard large was fine.

I have a big bump on the back of my head, and most helmets don't fit, but I find the Bell Sweep excellent.
