Hi, I'm looking for Dublin based groups who meet up socially and chat though Irish. I have Leaving Cert standard Irish so am NOT fluent, but am looking for a fun non pressured way to improve my Irish with other young people.
Can anyone suggest groups I could attend?? :o

I'm in q similar position but my Irish would be considerably more basic.

Google is leor beirt, that's exactly what you're looking for

Club Conradh? Irish Language pub on Harcourt street, if you don't want to just walk in off the street some random night, they usually have a someway decent line up of events over the space of a month or two, maybe something on you would like to go to as an introduction to the place.

If you're any way sporty, there are Na Gaeil Óga, Dublin based Irish Language GAA club, and Óga Yóga, Dublin based Yoga sessions through Irish. There is also a group that meet up regularly to go running together through Irish somewhere in Dublin(Clondalkin I think)
You could also meet up with Na Cnocadóirí and do a bit of hill climbing through Irish.

There would also be Aras Cronáin in Clondalkin which is similar to Club Conradh but is Bilingual rather than Irish language only.

There are plenty of Ciorcal Comhrá's around Dublin as well, cnag.ie should have a list of them.

If you're interested in Meetup, this Meetup group can be very good at times. Standards vary a fair bit but everybody helps each other out and is open to improving so you shouldn't feel under any pressure. Of course, you can arrange your own meetup and post it there if none of the locations suit.

There can also be good conversation Irish groups/ciorcal comhrá in libraries. Cabra, for instance, has quite a strong group meeting in the library there. Here are some around Dublin. Ring the libraries in question beforehand and ask them about the ciorcal comhrá you want to attend.

Hey guys, thanks for all your suggestions. I found an Irish group on MeetUp which I joined this week and I will definitely check out the other suggestions. Is Leor Beirt looks good and Club Conradh sounds like it could be fun :)
Thanks again for being so helpful :)

Depending on how important it is to you that people be young (I think it would be mixed but mostly older) there is also an ciorcal comhrá in fixx coffeehouse, a discussion group. It is focused on socialising, not teaching, so you'd want to be confident that you can express yourself about, say, referenda or the crappy weather, but you're not expected to be perfect and I'm sure they're very welcoming. Is leor beirt is definitely a good one too.
