    thanks....no joy...original omsp reckoned to be 33000...depreciation 98% current omsp €653....VRT refund €91 less €500 admin fee.

    and yet

when you put in an import enquiry......OMSP is €2000...vrt is €720 and tax rate is 30%

    screwed

That's because they use a minimum value for imports but not exports.
Apart from that, import and export values are always identical less the 500 fee

just searched for a look at the car.

did you see the other one, in the same county as you for €500 cheaper. it looks much more rough around the edges than yours but it really makes yours a harder sell imo :(

The OMSP for an import in that co2 bracket will never go below €2000 because that's the figure needed to produce the minimum figure of €720 for VRT. They could put the real figure down and say its €1300 but the vrt amount will still be €720.The maths work that way so it's simpler.

but it is below €2000 for an export,

Theres no minimum vrt amount for an export. They are hardly going to say that any car, no matter what will attract a minimum vrt rebate of €720. Thered be transporters full of cars heading straight to breakers in the north just for vrt rebates and there wouldn't be a car in a breakers yard down here.

OMSP is €653 which clearly is well off the mark!

for the import vrt amount or just in general?you could always dispute it I suppose. It's going to need to treble to be worth anything though is it not

no point...it was a nice dream that I'd be able to claim back €10000 or so in VRT...I guess they saw me coming.
