    Hey there,

Need some help on the procedure for being married in a registry office, such as:

    - How do you book a date there?
    - Is there a fee?
    - How do you get out of having two witnesses (if possible)
    - Do they open weekends?

Anyone care to share their experience with me that would be great. We are going to do it this summer.

    Thanks

You call and register intent three months before the ceremony. The fee is 200 euro. You can't get out of having two witnesses, its a legal requirement. And its only Monday to Friday.

Any 2 people can be your witnesses.
You have a meeting with them more then 3 months before the day with the paperwork etc and you register your intent to marry and 3 months after that date you can get married.
In Dublin you will not get it within the 3 months eaily but outside of Dublin you should.

The witnesses supplied are usually staff. As public servants, they are usually not allowed to accept gifts. You can clarify that when you meet the R.O staff. Then there's always the brown envelope...............

It is usually in a HSE building and there are loads of staff around.

Not always. We were in grand canal twice and only saw one or two members of staff each time.
