What exactly does a Donor Attendant do?

Hi Guys,

I have an interview for the position of a Donor Attendant with IBTS, I want to be as prepared as I can, can anybody shed any light on what exactly is involved with being a Donor Attendant?

Have you ever given blood? Is there a blood donation clinic anywhere near you, which could go an observe before the interview?

Basically, it's a member of the team of people who put people through the blood donation process. For whatever reason, in Ireland blood donors have to be watched every single minute that they're donating, so there's an army of "donor attendants" needed to do this, to do the admin work around it, and to call the nurse/doctor if any problem happens.

Really? I've often given blood where they just leave you in the middle to look after someone else. Of course they come back every few minutes to check on you but it's never been constant supervision. Granted, it was in a blood donor clinic where the donation area is open plan and they can keep an eye on you from across the room if necessary.
