    Hi all,

recently, i am thinking to get an golf ranger finder. i considered that GPS ranger finder might be more suitable for me than laser ranger finder because i always play different courses and don't really know where i should be aiming to.

please let me know if i was thinking right.

In GPS ranger finder i found that golf buddy platinum and garmin g6 are the latest devices. from reviews i think garmin g6 is more efficient and powerful however, i have never tried these two.

so, can anyone who tried these devices give me some of your thought and advices.

    Thanks,

I have the golf buddy platinum. Super piece of kit.
The reason i went gb is that it has every course in ireland and the biggest world library.

Saw it for as low as 299 recently.
    Hope that helps.
can answer any questions u may have on gb platinum

Have you looked at earlier models of these pieces of kit? For example the Garmin G3 is around £100 which would leave you a big chunk of change to get something else pretty nice. Ultimately they all do the same thing in telling you distance to hazard, front, back of green etc

some people was saying that the gb platinum touch screen response time is too slow. don't know if it is true.
be honestly, i never used any of these kits. you might company to your smart phone and see the response time different. then i should have very good idea on this .

    thanks Webbs,

i fully agree with your point however, personally i like to try the newer stuff and especially on the electronic products. so, if i have enough budget i will look into the latest products:):):)

    Jackhua

I really dont find response time slow. Maybe not as fast as an iphone but no real need for that kind of speed imo.
Course library was my no 1 priority

I have the G6. Have to say it is brilliant when using it on course. the map function gives you distances everywhere, to green, pin, traps, hazards, dog leg corners, wherever you want really. touch screen lets you move your target. I would be lost without it, especially on courses I dont know.

has all the courses pre-loaded (except knockanally which i played last year - and would never again so no real biggie!)

big downfall though is when you plug it into the computer, the reports you would expect are nothing short of weak. pretty big flaw if you ask me as it would not be hard especially when free phone apps give you such great detail.

if you want it for on course, its great, you will be hard pushed to find anything that is better
