Anybody living with one of these?
What are they like in real world terms?

    MPG/Tank Range etc

    Mk2 version (2006~)

Same engine as is in my Mk5 GTI. Car is over so slightly heavier though.

I'd probably average 30mpg or just a little less between regular city and country driving. Dipping quite a bit as the city driving takes the higher proportion of my driving.

What do you think a realistic city figure would be?
Just to give an idea from my previous cars, long term averages are :

    E39 530d sport - 24
    E60 525d mapped - 22
    E60 535d LCI mapped - 25

Would it be higher than these?

    Would that be Colm's one?

Nice car if it is and well cared for.

It was shown to me on Backroads and BMWHaus Forums alright.
High price compared to others but in fairness it looks really well, the problem is its priced in around the TDi price range.

Id say that would be the one.
High price/Low genuine miles and a genuine car.

    I do agree though.
    9k for a 06 / 8 year old car..

I must have been mad to sell my 2 year old one for 17.5k at that rate :P

That's a nice straight looking car. The Xenons, 18's and sunroof are nice to have but the price is very much on the high side for it. There have been instances of these going sub-6k and although they may well have been rougher you need to ask yourself are they €2.5-3k rougher?

I'd pay extra for a better car but not without checking out the others that are for sale first. Surely has to be some haggling in that price.

Pricey at that, and it's a comedown from a 5-series?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,302 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

Could come with 4 hookers and a Octavia boot full of whiskey and 9k would still be lunacy for an 8 year old car.

I could vouch for that car knowing the owner.

not worried about the come down from the E60, i chop and change like the weather so i could go from an MG ZR to an E60 no problem which i have done in the past.

If i was to look at that particular car, i would expect there to be some haggle room alright, sure nowadays you have to price it high on DD, as you'll be knocked down either way.

If that's as clean as it looks (and it's probably mint if vec says it is) it's definitely worth a shot at 7k, even a little more. Any early-ish mark 2 I've seen on the road recently has been rough enough or skangerized tbh.

Gaffs car is top notch, i think it was the very first 2.0 TFSI Octavia i ever seen,it's an Enthusiasts car and well looked after but the price is a little high.

    Hey all,
I saw this thread so thought I’d post up.

I have updated the price as I have my eye on another car.

Thanks for all the comments about my car, it’s great to receive such positive comments from fellow car enthusiasts.

As mentioned above the car is mint which is the main reason why I have had it for 8 years. A while back I purchased a dual action polisher and lots of Meguiars detailing products, which has enabled me to maintain the car to its current condition. I suppose anyone really interested in my car would be best to come have a look at it.

I’m no expert but in relation to vRS TDi models, in particular the early PD variations I was told by a Skoda dealer last week that the DPF’s were troublesome. Just something to bear in mind for people doing short journeys or city driving.

Well one of those is technically the result of a Hyundai Accent:p

Better looking than its sister GTI.... which came with a chavvy tartan patters seats iirc.

Tartan only became chavvy just under 10 years ago. GTI's have had tartan seats since the late 70's.

The tartan in the GTi is actually nice, it's nicer in the flesh, doesn't photograph well though.

Technically correct but had that not happened I would be changing for another one this year. :)

The tartan seats are extremely cool.

The Octavia is quite nice but I'm always glad I bought the GTI, its a much better looking car.

Not a chance, the gti is a far nicer looking car. The proportions of the octavia look all wrong, it's awkward and heavy looking.
