Megane Airbag Light

My wife was learning in my car (03 Dynamique Model) and after a rusty enough start-off the airbag light is staying ON while driving. The airbag switch is in the ON position so it's not that.

The light goes off when engine stops. After the car is started after a few seconds a locking sound is heard from back and light just comes on dash same time as locking sound.

Anyone have any thoughts on what that might be?

It's probably just a bad connection somewhere but I would be reluctant to mess around with it as setting one off could be nasty. I'd take it to a professional. Apart from the safety issue, it won't pass an NCT.

The locking sound could be a relay to disable the airbags.

You need to.get it plugged in with diagnostic equipment.

Check the connections under the seats. Your missus probably moved the seat and you probably moved the passenger seat, sometimes a wire/connection can break, very common

I'm living in Clane Co. Kildare.

She did move the seat alright and was pressing every pedal while trying to start.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks for replies so far.

Just to close this thread for future searchers.

I went below the driver seat and 'ruffled' the cable loom. Turned off and on engine and light cleared up.

Thanks all who responded with advice.
