went out with Heidi at 1 today bit of a late start but had that feeling id see something. anyway she worked well and got a rabbit out of it so back t the car and relaxed for few mins to start the next journey uphill towards mountains.
spotted 2 cocks at a ditch and they headed off on foot as soon as I was spotted so I carried on after them. Heidi picked up the scent which led me over to some woods and over a small river.
she then stopped solid and in this ditch came a sound of a cock (kinda gave away his position) so she held her stance and I gave the signal. up came the cock at about 15 yards so I gave him more yards and pulled into him> fcuker dropped into the river but Heidi dove in after him. a great point and better retrieve. second fella rose up minutes later but I fcuked up on him and seemed an easier shot than the first. anyway im a happy man today. shes been doing great and today really showed my hard work paying off.

He was a fine bird. Young bird but nice all the same. The sound of him as he rose my heart in me throat.
It's not my first pheasant. It's hers. Still smiling like a Cheshire Cat right now.

I knew that I was praising your work with the dog not you shooting a pheasant nothing like the rush when a cock comes roaring out of cover

    Damn
It is difficult to not enjoy first hand testimony. Good on you lad. Enjoyed the time as much as you did.

Well done. Dropping in the river is no bad thing. Makes for a challenging retrieve & she is obviously up to the mark so happy days!
