    Hi

I am based in the UK and looking at coming over for the day for this meeting.

Its been about 8 years since I last came over to Dublin, so looking for a bit of advice.

I have been to most of the Irish tracks before - eg Mallow, Punchestown,Curragh,Leopardstown,Galway, etc

My plan is to fly in for circa 11am into Dublin, so will that give me enough time to get to Leopardstown for first race at 1pm?

    Should I arrive earlier?

I am looking at using the Aircoach service as I recall that picks up / drops off by Bewleys, which from memory is about 15 / 20 minutes walk to the course.

I recall there was always 2 enclosures - reserved was one - I think

When I look at Leopardstown's web site it looks like a seat is €30 - Does that include admission?

I am over 35 now so no student discount these days

Are there any offers I can get for that to be cheaper?

How much is a pint these days in Jodami's bar please? To help me budget for the days expenses :D

I am guessing last race will be circa 4.00pm.

How much time should I allow to get back the airport?

If I can get a flight at say 7pm, should I get that and use Aircoach to go straight back or go into town and get the last flight back circa 10pm?

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions posted

First race was 12.25 last year so you'd be cutting it pretty fine if you were only leaving Dublin Airport at 11. Probably best to give yourself an extra hour at least if possible.

I am looking at using the Aircoach service as I recall that picks up / drops off by Bewleys, which from memory is about 15 / 20 minutes walk to the course.

I recall there was always 2 enclosures - reserved was one - I think

There's only one enclosure in Leopardstown now. They got rid of the reserved section a while back.

When I look at Leopardstown's web site it looks like a seat is €30 - Does that include admission?

I'm almost certain it does include your admission, but I've never reserved a seat so it's probably best to double check with them yourself.

I am over 35 now so no student discount these days

Are there any offers I can get for that to be cheaper?

Check their website for any special offers. There's racing there both days of that weekend and sometimes they do a deal for a ticket to cover both meetings (not sure if that would interest you if you're not open to coming for the weekend). €15 for the decent card that's on that day seems reasonable though (without a seat! :P).

How much is a pint these days in Jodami's bar please? To help me budget for the days expenses :D

Somewhere between €5-€6 depending on what you're drinking. Expect €6 and you should have some change for a pint in the airport when you're flying back ;)

I am guessing last race will be circa 4.00pm.

Last race last year was 4.10pm.

How much time should I allow to get back the airport?

Should take around the same time it takes you to get there in the morning, but maybe add 20-30mins just to allow for traffic around the area after the races.

If I can get a flight at say 7pm, should I get that and use Aircoach to go straight back or go into town and get the last flight back circa 10pm?

You should make a 7pm flight, but this is totally down to what you want to do yourself.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions posted

I wouldnt cut it that tight.
you're not exactly walking straight off the plane onto the Aircoach, and you don't want to be only walking in 10 minutes before the 1st race.
I would plan to get a flight that is scheduled to land in Dublin around 10am.
On the way back, if you have a choice between a 7pm flight and a 10pm one, do the later unless you're back in work the next morning.

Afaik the days of reserved enclosures are long gone, offers do occassionally pop up via a few Irish websites but for saving maybe a fiver it's not worth the effort of trying to find such deals, you can just pay on the way in on the day anyway.
The seats aren't really worth the extra imo.

Can't help you with exact drink prices, but I'd expect it to be north of a five a pint.

    OK

    Thanks for those

Looking at the arrival, its either

Liverpool arriving at 0945 or 0720, returning 1835 or 2105

    Manchester arriving 0900, returning 1750 or 2200 or 2240

    Birmingham arriving 1105, returning 1915 or 2025

I am circa 45 miles from all so no real issue there other than parking

Will have a couple of pints at most at races, just wondering about what I should expect to pay

Looks like Liverpool will be favourite as its dearer to park at Manchester for the day than to fly to Dublin.

Work - Flight times wouldnt affect that.

the Liverpool 09:45 & 21:05 ones sounds about the best.

btw, there are still some bookies in the ring that take bets in sterling, so if you had a credit card with you for the rest you could probably avoid having to buy any of the "yoyos" at all.

Agreed. The Liverpool times arriving (9:45) and departing (21:05) look about perfect. Plenty of time both sides to get to and from the racecourse without any pressure, but not hours to kill either.

The first race is at 1pm that day and last is at 4.10 so you should be ok if you land at 11am but as the other guys have said you might be cutting things a bit fine so better to get there a bit earlier and take everything in as will be a top class days action.

    Enjoy the day.

The price of the pint shouldn't have an influence on your trip. Just drink it and forget about it as we do when we cross the Irish Sea!

I was considering going to it myself I'd be travelling by train but it'd b 12 before I'd be in connolly (no earlier train from sligo on Sunday) taxi from connolly to d luas in stephens green and get the shuttle bus from sandyford, that's if they still have it in operation?

€20 for a two day ticket that weekend according to their Facebook page.
    Good value.
