What's a good place to buy canned meat?

Where can I find canned meat? I'm most interested in Dublin city centre
    and the Dun Laoghaire area.

Canned meat (as distinct from canned fish) doesn't
seem to be widely available. For example, I've never
seen, in any shop, any of the products listed at
    http://www.princes.co.uk/our-products/meat-pies-and-ready-meals/ham/.

I would be reluctant to use "Polish shops" and the like, because I wouldn't
want to buy a product if I couldn't read the label or I couldn't check
out the brand on the web.

Just out of sheer curiosity, what is the uses of or benefits of canned meat? Is it cheaper? Is it better for certain dishes?

Because it lasts forever, so when the SHTF, you don't starve. And probably other reasons too,,,,,

Its edible from the can, useful for camping/backpacking etc; can also be useful if you live somewhere with extremely poor power sources (and no bottle gas cooking available). However, buying a lot at once makes you look like a nutter who's bunkering themselves down for the apocalypse.

Not much help on a Dublin City forum, but its easily available in more rural supermarkets for the crappy power / getting snowed in type of reasons.

My reasons for eating canned meat are pretty specific to myself: I want
a convenience food which doesn't contain carbohydrates or dairy products.

The amount of salt in canned meat is a worry; but in the final analysis,
I consider canned meat to be the least of several evils.

How incovenient is a steak or a chop? All it requires is a few minutes in a pan or under a grill. And you can (generally) be fairly sure that it won't contain salt or dairy.

Don't all products sold in Ireland have to have an English list of ingredients though? Not sure Polish shops strictly adhere to the law but I'd guess it would be like in other countries for imports where they slap a local language sticker on.

Don't keep fresh for a prolonged period, cannot be cooked from frozen. Convenience food by its very nature has to be long-life and not require lengthy preparations to heat/eat.
