Who'll insure me tonight ?

I have a first world dilema and am wondering if any of you can point me in the right direction.

Bought a new car. The dealer just rang me there now to confirm it's ready for collection. Unfortunately that was at 5:15pm and my insurance broker closed at 5pm. So I can't transfer or organise insurance with them until Monday.

Do you know of any company online that will cover me for a short period of time (weekend, week or even a month) and will do so tonight ? If not I'll just have to wait but it's unbearable :)

Never mind, I got sorted by just taking out a new policy with an online company just now (the old one is up in three weeks time anyway).

That'll be kind of complicated with your NCB in future - you'd be better off cancelling the online policy on Monday.

    Congrats on the car!

It shouldn't be. Probably just need to send on the NCB cert in the post.

When two policies overlap then only one will be for a full year. ;)

I've taken out a brand new policy and am covered from right now. They will be writing to me and asking me to forward a copy of my licence and ncb from existing policy. In the meantime my existing policy expires in a couple of weeks so it works out perfectly. Got a decent price, they are allowing me to pay via installments, cover includes ncb protection, replacement car etc. So I'm thrilled. I'll be picking up the new car in the morning. I'm dreading the next couple of years leaving it in any given Irish car park :eek:

My insurance company told me if I ever need to do anything over a weekend send them an email or fax and they can retrospectively update it on Monday. I have a business policy with them so maybe that make a difference.
