    Hi folks,

Would appreciate some comments on this track:

Lunar Daydream - an M83 style instrumental electro-rock ditty. I know I've a huge amount of work to do on my mixes, I'm under no illusions, just getting started...

    Any comments greatly appreciated.

That bass sound gets lost after the attack. Perhaps a more full sounding "regular" sound will less attack would be nicer.

I get the impression there are a few conflicting sounds going on. The main riff sounds fine, but what is behind that, it is not the "bass" line but some kinda of - in fact it is the dededededede bit in the verse which continues to the chorus if you will.

Seems to crowd the space for me. It sounds too similar to what is mainly featured and what introduced in the chorus.

Maybe a different sound with the mid to lows EQed out to give the other sounds space. Those other sounds don't have a huge amount going on outside of the notes being played so exploit that space a bit with a different sound.

    Good stuff.

    Hey man
Thanks for the reply...been meaning to get back quicker.

Deffo wanna try to address what you’re saying…but just wanted to be sure what you’re actually saying first :)

About the bass sound – yep I’m with you there. I actually have a more regular 2nd bass sound in eighth notes in the chorus but not in the verses. Perhaps I’ll add it in there to beef up the verse notes or maybe adjust the settings of the existing one to address the issue. I like the timbre so need to fiddle with the settings.

About the other stuff – I’m just clear about what you’re referring to there. When yer talking about the “dededededede” in the verse is it the arp synth? Or something else?

Not trying to be smart by the way, just can’t quite grasp what you’re saying!…thanks

That is indeed what I was on about, could not for the life of me think of the right word!! :pac:

About the bass, why not try to EQ the attack of the bass you have down a wee bit and then raise the overall level. If I remember correctly, I just wasnt hearing that bass after the initial attack. If you just made that louder, the attack which is already too loud in my opinion would go up to.
