Just wondering , am trading my car in next week for a new one at local garage . Is there a change of ownership form I have to fill out at garage or what's the story . Should I have had a certificate of ownership form when I bought my current car four years ago ? Thanks

You hand over the vehicle registration certificate.
The garage should have an rf105 form which takes the car out of your name

Yes there should been a cert along with your car and you need to fill out a Form for Change of Ownership the Motor Tax Office might have it but think the form once filled out has to be posted to the Transport Office in Shannon from what I remember myself. Make sure you send it to the correct Office! The golden pages or phonebook have those details or the garage might do it for you.

I say ring up the Transport Office in Shannon they might have a copy or know of the cert code of your car. Would you not have a record of the number when you pay your Motor Tax/Insurance they might have a copy of the cert?

You go to motortax.ie and download and fill in the replacement Vehicle Licensing Certificate form (RF134). Get it stamped at your local Garda station and then bring it along with €12 to your local motor tax office. They will send it off and you will get a new Vehicle Licensing Cert normally within a week.

Edit: Here is the form: http://www.environ.ie/en/LocalGovernment/MotorTax/PublicationsDocuments/FileDownLoad,497,en.pdf

The form probably be on the motortax website but its the VRT cert is what you are looking for. I just happen to have a form so was able to send it off.

    Best of luck

All Shannon will tell you is to use the process that I mentioned above. They will not re-issue copies of the cert on demand or over the phone.
