    So I'm confused....
Have a bit of a soft spot for saabs, had a 9-5 and then a 9-3 (04 model) until I emigrated to oz 3 years ago where I'm now trundling around in a 2009 3.6l Holden sports wagon.
Will be moving back to Ireland in around 12 months and have started looking at used car market at home. Was thinking an A4, A6, BMW 520 or similar for around $15k until boom I found myself sneaking peeks at 9-3s again today, 2009 models as it happens. Suppose my query really is i thought Saab were winding down around time i left Ireland but u see models right up to 2013 advertised?? What's going on??
Are Saab still turning out new cars? For how much longer?
Would I be mad to go for say a 1.9 turbo 9-3 for that sort of money (15k) ?
Have a completely irrational love if saabs!
Crap hit post twice before finished writing...

    In the closet?

To answer your question the 9-3 has just gone back into limited production but Ireland won't be getting new models for the foreseeable future.

Anything you are seeing for sale here is just leftover stock. Saab have not brought any brand new cars into Ireland in about 2 years afaik. I'm not even sure if they have a distributer or dealers here at present.

A lot of our leftover stock was actually sent to the UK as they had a sales spike when the company closed. Although obviously not all of it went hence we still have 2013 reg cars.

Well there is a dreamer on carzone looking for €35k for a 132 reg 9-3 diesel. The laughable part is that the cars sold to the UK will probably find their way imported back here.

I spotted a reverse import of a Nissan Tiida. No idea why anyone would inflict that upon themselves.

Maybe Hertz or Avis, they cannot get enough of them. :)

    Yeah, saw that alright.
Wouldn't buy one that young even if I had the money and an accompanying lack of sense! Would buy something more traditional for that money.
Suppose really what it boils down to is I hadn't considered a Saab again as I sorta assumed they were a dead duck, when I was leaving in 2009/2010 seemed the writing was on wall but now I've seen all those shiny "newish" ones I've got to reminiscing about my old 9-3! Wondering if I should put toe back in water again?

Generally the old stuff is cheap but like any used car you will get mint ones and you will get total dogs.

Back in 2008 I had a 05 1.9 Tid Vector Sport. Loved that and it had lots power and good mpg, only thing was the egr valve that had to be replaced, which is common. Also had a 318 and gave me crap loads of trouble. All depends on how car is treated also.
Go for what you want and I personally think Saab are not a bad choice.
not sure what the after sales will be like and parts etc, few years down the line but would imagine be ok.
