Thinking about buying my first car now and was hoping someone can offer opinions. I'm looking at getting either a clio, corolla hatchback or maybe a vento :) I would consider myself a car enthusiast and want a car I can be proud of and maybe add a few modifications without being called a boy racer haha. Any suggestions ? :)

I'd gather that your budget is probably no more then a 1000 since your looking at a Vento ?

Of the three though I'd go with the corolla. The 1.3 in the older models are renouned for their reliability.

Regarding modifications, what did you have in mind ?

    Corolla.
    Tinted Windows.
    Pressed Plates (Standard Font)
    Alloys.
    Xenon lights.
    Truck horn!
Sun Strip but not the huge one.

All wont affect insurance but you would have to notify the insurance company for the windows.

Cant think of any reason to modify the engine or the exhaust. Waste of money. Save your money and buy a nicer car. I know a lad whos spent more on his ancient VW than the cost of 06 Golf or Corolla. Looks crap! If I were you Id save up your modification budget and get a Corolla like this http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-corolla/5720141

Dont put a body kit on it on your car! Wannabe Boy Racer sign. Especially if you still have L plates up.

Wouldn't bother with xenon lights unless the headlights are projector ones. Doesn't look great and are too bright if not fitted properly.

    2nd choice: Corolla
