    Hi all,

Just canvassing for any experiences with these or similar models from the lower end of the Gibson range url]http://www.thomann.de/ie/gibson_lp_studio_50_tribute_gt.htm[/url

In particular, I'm wondering how people have found the weight relief - does it make a noticeable difference to the tone / playability compared to older models? I had a top-heavy SG before which I hated as it kept sagging - hoping the weight relief on the LP's doesn't produce the same effect. Also, I've been playing thin neck strats almost exclusively for the last three years, and am a bit worried that the 50's neck profile will be too wide.

I have one sitting in front of me now and have to say i've had no trouble with it.Sound is bang on and does what it say's on the tin. If you're happy enough not to have the fancy binding etc then the studios are grand.

Bear in mind it has a 50's neck not the taper,so if you don't like baseball bat necks it's probably not for you.

Thanks - that's the only thing stopping me. Although I got on fine with my Sheraton which I think has a similar profile. How do you find it for bars?

I don't find it bad at all, once you break your hand into it you're flying really. If you're used to the neck on a sheraton i wouldn't let the neck on that Les Paul put you off.

Where in Kildare are you? I'm in Newbridge and I have a 2013 Traditional it's not weight relieved but it dfoes have a 50's profile neck you can have a shot if you want. Or you could just go to Waltons and try one out

Thanks for the offer but I'm on the far side of the Naas road! I think I'll go with it, I won't have the chance to go to Walton's anytime soon, and I can always do the 30-day money back if it's really unsuited, but I think it will be fine.
