Hi guys! I hope i am in the right forum for this. I am on the lookout for a smart tv for basic home use - watching television & youtube etc and came across this tv on Pixmania www.pixmania.ie/led-tv/philips-32pfl3208h-12-led-smart-tv/21370262-a.html . What do you think of it? As ive said its just for home use - no gaming - mad internet usage and may only be used 6-7 hours a day if even! would this be suitable for my needs or can you recommend a similar tv for a similar price?

I was researching Smart Tvs also and came across the same TV but much cheaper (€267 - I don't know if shipping is more expensive though) on this website, www.factorychoice.ie. For some strange reason though I can't find it on there now, even though I had it in my basket but it seems to have disappeared from their website.

Anyway, My dilemma is that I don't know anything about Smart TVs and I am suspicious as to why this TV is so much cheaper than the others? Is says that it is" WiFi Ready (with optional USB Wifi adapter)". What does this mean? Will I be able to acces the Internet on it if I enter my home broadband WPA Code from my broadband modem?
I will want to watch Netflix (which I pay a subscription for), watch the RTE player,
and hopefully download Apps, such as Sky Go, onto it also. I presume that it is a Saorview TV? Also I see some other TVs advertised with Freeview, is this something that one can only acesss if they live on the East Coast or along the North of Ireland Border (I live in the SW).
Sorry about hi jacking your post, I know you had the original question but I was hoping that you might be able to help me out here?

Philips pulled out of the TV market in Ireland last year I think, which is a shame because I have purchased some great TVs over the years, now I have to purchase online.
The TV you guys are looking at is a budget model, 3 series so don't expect to be blown away by picture quality. If the TV develops a fault you can be sure it will be hassle getting it repaired and more than likely a very long wait.
I'm a big fan of Philips TVs but on this occasion I suggest you consider an LG as they make some very good TVs at reasonable prices.
As for the smart TV, well I have tried a fair few from different manufacturers and i hated them all. Pick a model and pop into Harvey Norman and see if they have it in stock and try to get a feel for it. Netflix and rte player amongst others are only available on some models so check that up before you buy.
Sorry for the long post but I know buying a TV can be a nightmare, get the wrong 1 and your disappointed for years.

Pretty much every current-model LG has an integrated satellite tuner too, giving access to UK (among other countries) channels without a separate box, provided you can connect to a suitable satellite dish.

I didn't know about the satellite tuner, even though a friend has at 32" variant with sat tuner. I may pick up a 42" lg for the living room while I wait for Philips 2014 range to get reviewed, sat tuner is the deal breaker.
