Zafira egr valve trouble

    can someone please tell me if a egr valve on a 2002, 2litre dti zafira can be cleaned as i'm hearing different stories,

    If its a vacuum operated one then it can be removed and cleaned. I've done one before. Sometimes Vacuum leaks in the pipe to the EGR, or a weak brake vac pump, or even low engine oil can cause EGR misoperation which some incorrectly blame on the valve itself!

    The electronic EGR's fitted on the later 2.0DTi's can be cleaned but can still be problematic thereafter.

    The change in valve type occurred (I think) around 2003.
