Hi lads, Just want to pick ye're brains. What roughly would ye expect to 1 year old friesan bulls weanlings to go for in the mart say approx 320kg and also 8 month old AA bull weanlings approx 260kg?
I know that its hard to put a price on without pics but im just looking for anything general please like your best guess :)
    Thanks all!

Would 480 be an insult for the fr bulls ? Might they be better off squeezed now with all this talk of the factories not wanting older bulls ? Im no expert on them mind you , just what I think

If they are good square fries sins they might make 480 but I'd be reckoning a fair bit less. If you could stick them over 420 kg they usually get a bit more interest. It's not a great time of year to be selling friesains.

I'd be talking 400for fr and 480 for Aa
And after killing a few a year older and not being able to get 33 month fr bullacks killed I'd not be knocking Over or falling out with anyone to buy them

Friesian weanling bulls are in general selling for around 1.20 - 1.3/kg. Unless you get a farmer bidding for them and the dealers try to push him a bit you will find it hard to beat 100 with the weight. Real good square might make a bit more but in general they are around that price.

Biggest issue to farmers that finish them is we can no longer finish them as bulls. You then have to finish as bullocks, lots of lad that did them as bullocks carried them to over 30 months and sold at end of third year at grass not feeding meal. These are getting punished as if some cattle are P= or below FS 2+ the factory's punish hard

Rough ballpark is 3 for a 1000, anything more is a bonus.

I saw fr bulls in the mart the week before Christmas, they were not in demand and barely made €300 around €1/kg.

Pretty much spot on that price there

Is there any point in if you have AA, FR, HR bulls near 400kgs and around 12 mths old now in pushing them on and killing them in 120 days ie. under 16 mths old and at around 300kgs dead?

Would they kill an O at 3.8/kg and youd get the 12c QA as well getting 3.92 pushing them into near E1200, considering thed do well to make E700 in mart at the mo is this a runner for these type cattle as bulls at the moment??

I sold two b-friesains bullocks before Christmas 430 and 450 kg at 19 months old. They went 320 along with their weight. I've another few to go from that batch and then last years lads. I will never keep one around the place again.

If 400kgs now they would be super yearlings, to push on they will cost around 2.7/day to finish that is about 330euro. However at best they will put on about 1.3kgs/day so they will put on 155 kgs. Weighing 555kgs at slaughter they will kill 260-270kgs.

However some of the lads doing this a long time are failing to average these weights. I think they would make about 1100 euro in May if they preformed as above. Dodgy bit is will the factory's be interested in them and will they pay around 4/kg. Getting fat on them will be the trick and the fella that is only 350kgs will really kill your bottom line.

Exactly out of the 20 of them the best of them are mostly WH bulls and even on a small bit of meal at he moment they have a good covering of fat already so should kill fat score ok, the problem is the raw angus ones that have a small bit of Hol in them, trying to get weight and fat cover on them will drag the others down.
