Just finished making this for myself. Based on a design I seen online for a DIY squat stand. I can use this for squat, bench and incline its a lot more versatile to me than shop bought ones. I have a 100kg in weights but will get more as strenght increases. I have limited space and intend to build a new gym this year but at the moment thus set up fits in my 8 x 8 shed. I'm using a 6ft oly bar. It's a bit crude looking but works well and very secure. i still need to add safety catches in case i get in trouble lifting. i used a lot of timbers I had left over from building a deck so not as neat as I would like and my skillsaw broke so I cut everything using a saw. Can give more details if any one is interested.

How confident would you be unracking and re-racking 100kg on it?

Very confident to be honest. Have given it a good test and it works very well and is secure. I use to lift a bit years ago with a squat max of 160 and bench of 120 I'd be happy this set up with cope with it. I wont be going near those levels though with my current gym fitness. the max will be a 90kg bench and 100kg squat for a good while. I used 4x4 posts and 6x2 braced with 4x2 timbers which hold the squat and bench respectively. It equates to an approximate static compression load of 50kg per post or 500N which is not huge. The lateral loading from the racking and reracking would be where it's under most strain however its well fixed and braced to the wall and the floor. I will also add some metal catches where I hold the weights to prevent the timber wearing.
