Hi I'm just wondering what the best car tyres on the market for between €80-€100. I don't do big millage at all so grip would suit my needs more. The tyre size I have at the moment are 215/55 R16 93V

    Thanks

Have a set of Bridgestone turanzo on my Touran 1.9tdi. Got them in atlas sandyford for about 85 a corner and find the good.

    Probably 205/55/16 though?

215/55 is a bit of an oddball size so are more expensive. Good price you got though.

Could I not change my tyre size for a different size that's close to my current tyre size?

    Kind of, but no.
You could go 225/50 but they're equally odd and pricey.
    205/55 would just look wrong.

Does all 1.9 tdi passats have that tyre size why does my car have that exact tyre size? Is it if I change tyre size all 4 tyres would have to be changed?

Sorry if that sound stupid just trying to understand.

    Good info in here

205/55 might be a runner after all.

Put four on a passat for someone myself. It looks kinda tight arsed but theres no drivability issues mind you I changed all four to keep the driver aids happy.

eagle f1 asymmetric...i wont put anything else near my car now....went around mondello in what can only be described as a monsoon and i pushed the car hard...felt like it was bone dry out there.

If you can put 205/55/16 on it you should have a lot of choice my car has that size and I normally get turanzas but although the er300 were a great tyre. The t001 don't seem as good in terms of grip and wear out reasonably fast compared with the older er300. So I put Goodyear excellence on my car and I have to say they are a serious tyre for grip dry and wet. And for 85 euro a corner you can't go wrong.

Great tyre but you won't get them in that size, i think in that size you should be able to get a pretty decent tyre on a budget of 100e a corner.

Are these easily found in Ireland i.e. anywhere can order it in? I'm on the look out for new tyres for my Focus mk2 at the moment as it doesn't seem to grip as well in the cold, and Primacy's looked a good bet: http://www.michelin.ie/tyres/car-tyres#type=type_2&brand=ford&range=focus&model=focus%20ii&engine=1.4%20l%2080&year=2004%20-%202011&selectedFitment=205-55-16-91-V&retainFitment=205-55-16-91-V&fronthighwaypressure=34.81&frontnormalpressure=30.46&selectedIndexOption=1&rearhighwaypressure=40.61&rearnormalpressure=30.46&selectedFilter=summer as did Goodyear Vectors: http://www.goodyear.eu/ie_en/tires/passenger/vector-4seasons/index.jsp?from=tf&loadIndex=94-XL

Have just put a pair of Kumho KH17 (same car & tyre size) so far so good in all conditions encountered.. My €0.02

If I was fitting 205/55R16's I'd use Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance. You should be able to get them for around €90 fitted.

OP I had a 06 Passat that same with the same 215/55/R16 tyres you have now and it cost me a fortune replacing them every time - not to mention the fact that they were hard to get.

I switched to 205/55/R16 and used that size for 2 years without any issues on all sorts of roads. Much cheaper and a far greater selection.

Just out of curiosity, would 205/60 be more suited? Theyre fairly common too.

205/55 16 are the best alternative. They were factory fitted to lots of those B6 Passats. If it was my car I would definitely change to that size.

Are they alright in winter conditions, as Michelins website is saying they're summer tyres...only noticed that now

95% of tyres sold in Ireland are officially 'summer tyres', they are fine except in snow/icey conditions.
