A question I'd be interested in is where do people think Henshaw, Olding and Chris Farrell would have fitted in had they gone to the JWC?

I think Henshaw would have gone to full-back, Farrell would have gone to inside centre and Olding would have gone to Outside Centre.

Wow, makes you wonder doesn't it. What a strong back-line that would have been.

    9. Luke McGrath
    10. Stuart Olding
    11. Rory Scholes
    12. Chris Farrell
    13. Tom Farrell
    14. Darren Sweetnam
    15. Robbie Henshaw

Depends on whether you mean ability or performances... for example, the likes of Olding, Henshaw, Ed Byrne didn't really show the full extent of their abilities.

    I'd go for:

    1. Peter Dooley
    2. Niall Scannell
    3. Tadhg Furlong
    4. Iain Henderson
    5. Tadhg Beirne
    6. Dan Leavy
    7. Conor Gilsenan
    8. Jack Conan
    9. Kieran Marmion
    10. JJ Hanrahan
    11. Rory Scholes
    12. Stuart Olding
    13. Chris Farrell
    14. Darren Sweetnam
    15. Robbie Henshaw

Bryan Byrne, Ed Byrne, Christopher Taylor, Gavin Thornbury, Jordan Coughlan, Luke McGrath, Paddy Jackson, Shane Layden

Bit early to put in any of the current crop tbh...

I actually would have gone for the exact same backline as you had there, and yet it's very difficult to leave out the likes of Crosbie and Daly. Thought Daly and Farrell had a great partnership, one which I'd like to see at senior level in time, while Crosbie was such a natural footballer.

Surely Olding played 13 in the 2012 JWC?

He did yeh, but I think people are picking more based on performance rather than ability. My memory of Olding in '12 was that he played a couple of games at 13 against England and France after the group stages, did well, but wasn't capturing a lot of attention.

Olding played 9 games for the U20s compared to say, Barry Daly who played 4 games,Layden who played 5, Tom Daly who played 6. I'm pretty sure 9 is more than 4, 5 or 6.......:D

On a different note, while some - or even most of those guys are pretty well set in Academies or even Squads or even been capped
Guys like JJ., Jackson, Furlong, Olding, Henderson spring to mind,
does anyone know what has happenned to Des Merry for example? He impressed me no end yet I think I heard he was playing AIL. Chris Taylor also seemed a reasonable prospect and is with Malone afaik.

Yeh but minute wise I'd say the likes of the two Daly's have more. 3 of Olding's caps for instance amount to a total of 10 minutes.
