Replacing ring on an electric cooker?

One of the 4 rings on my electric cooker has stopped working. Got a guy to look at it, quoted me €80 to replace the ring, fitting included. Is that a bit pricey? Was half thinking of getting the ring myself and asking an electrician friend of mine to fit it and give him a few bob. Would it cost me less?

Does not sound too pricey for someone to come, I assume test and identify the ring as the problem, then fit a new one. What do you think he should do it for, €20, €10, free? Does he live next door, or has to travel, buy petrol etc?
