    Hi guys,

I am new-ish to photography and mainly do it as a hobby but recently I have been on the look out for a flashgun for a nikon D90 camera. I have looked online but to be honest im out of my league as regards where/what to look at so could somebody here point me in the right direction?

I am aiming to spend 150/200 max so anybody got any pointers or suggestions?

    thanks in advance!

I love the YongNuo series of new flashes.
I have the YN568 ex. It's perfect for me - it does HSS (allowing flash shutter speeds of up to 1/8,000 instead of the standard 1/250) and it's powerful as heck. It's really rugged too and takes a nice bump! You can get it for about 120-140 on ebay and you can spend the rest on Yongnuo Triggers, which are unbeatable for the price.

Alternatively, you could get TWO YN560III for the price. They have a built in receiver, so you'd only need to by a YN transmitter and you're good to go. They're not as powerful as the 568s, but they're extraordinarily handy and the price really opens up so many possibilities.

I've three Nikon flashes too, but I genuinely believe the YNs are the better pieces of equipment for my needs. The sb600 is okay, the 900s and 910s are amazing, but not worth the money I feel.

I got an sb800 for not a lot of money on e-bay. keep an eye out and theres bargains to be had if you want nikon gear.

If not the Yong nuo speedlights mentioned above get very good reviews.
