Samsung RTE and 3player not working

    Hi guys,

    Over the past couple of days the RTE player and 3player apps have stopped working on my Samsung BlueRay player (model BD-F6500) which has SmartHub built into it. The RTE player just sits on the "Loading" screen and the 3player just sits on the purple splash screen. I have tried doing a hard reset of the Samsung player which deletes everything including the apps but that hasn't resolved the issue. I want to check if my network is the issue before I return the Samsung player. The fact that the RTE player and the 3player apps work on my iPad, does this mean that my network is not the problem? Or do the Samsung apps use a different port numbers and server address when connecting to get the content?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Keith, I think I'll take the player down to my parents which use a different broadband provider (Eircom) to see if it is my broadband provider (Ripplecom) or the player itself that is the issue.

    My 3player is just hanging on the purple screen too. Did you have any luck in your parents house?

    3 Player also isn't working on my TV. No issues with RTE player.

    I'm having the same problem with the 3player app. It just hangs on the opening purple screen.

    I've got a 7 series Samsung TV. My Broadband provider is eircom...

    Any help would be appreciated

    3player also not working on samsung smart tv

    its not the broadband provider as the rte player works fine

    3player maybe not working due to some improvements for sky on demand with maybe more content than its usual home content such as us drama series like demand5 for channel5 in the uk

    The RTE player is working fine for me too now so my issue with it was probably due to my broadband connection which has a habit of dropping the connection every so often. It has been working perfectly since I got the Samsung player 3 weeks ago.

    The TV3 3player is a different story. I have being having issues with it for the past week. I rang TV3 tech support but they couldn't offer any assistance and told me to ring Samsung. I haven't rang Samsung but I presume that is not going to work because they didn't code the TV3 3player app. The 3player does have a support email address which is playersupport@tv3.ie but that email address doesn't exist :(

    I have managed to get the 3player app to run by hitting the "Enter" button on the remote multiple times on the purple splash screen which eventually kicks it into life. This to me looks like either Samsung have changed something with their app software interface lately or there is some bug in the 3player app code. Either way it is very annoying.

    Hopefully TV3 will sort this out...

    Think you will have to annoy Samsung as well about this problem, as surely they have some sort of responsibiity since you are accessing the apps through their SmartHub portal.

    Was thinking of buying an F6500 but the one app I would like working on it is the Eurosport Player
    Could any of you F6500 owners confirm if it is available on SmartHub from the F6500 and if it is have any of you tried it out?

    I have checked the Samsung SmartHub app store and i don't see the Eurosport player app. There is an ESPN one and a Transworld Sport one but no Eurosport. This probably means that the Eurosport player is not available from the Irish SmartHub app store (I believe the app store is country specific and the SmartHub platform figures this out based on the geo location of your IP address when the platform is configuring itself e.g. the ITV/BBC/4oD/5Demand players are also not available and I would assume that the RTE/3player are not available to people with UK IP addresses).

    While I do have the F6500 player, I think the above would be the same whether you access the SmartHub app store through a Samsung BlueRay/DVD player or a Smart TV.

    Might be useful for some owners.

    As regards the Eurosport Player, it is probably only available in the UK store.

    This country code restirction is a bit annoying, I have a Panasonic TV and DVD player (old smart interface) and its only available on the TV regardless of country setting.

    Like everyone above my 3player is not working also. RTE player is working fine. I tried TV3 support email playersupport@tv3.ie but it doesn't work. Wish they could just fix it.

    It might be worth ringing TV3 tech support and making them aware of it. I will ring them again today but the more people that ring them then the more seriously they will take the complaint. The reply I got before from them was "You are the only one to complain so it must be just your player".

    Some good news.

    I contacted TV3 and they were very helpful. They are aware of the problem and are working with Samsung to resolve it. Looks like Samsung have changed something on the SmartHub platform that is affecting a number of apps not just the 3player. They don't have a resolution date/time but at least they are aware of the problem and are working on it.

    I just purchased a F6500 TV and the Eurorsport Player App is available on it ;)

    Yea, just bought the dvd player and nearly all apps EXCEPT Eurosport are available - not happy:(

    I also have samsung BDF 6500 smart blueray player bought at christmas
    TV3 app works fine but after having registered via login at rte player, got my pin and emaill confirmation back, RTE player app just goes on a loop of asking for pin and not playing

    any help ? is there a licencing issue ? what did you all do to get it play ?

    Hi I have a smart tv also and when it comes to watching rte player on the web browser page it loads what ever category is there but when u pick the program it stopped loading fully.
    Anyone have this experience and if so any look fixing it?
