    Hi,

My year with Sky broadband is coming to an end this month and the cost is going from €20 to €50 per month. Has anyone got any offers from Sky to keep them from moving? I know people got some discount on their Sky TV package but wondering has anyone got anything off their broadband package? €50 per month is not that good value.

Nah got 17.50 off my tv package - would not budge on broadband

At €50, I am guessing you are rural. After intial problems I am getting a steady 6mb ... would be nervous about jumping until Fibre is available. A lot of people compalining on the Eircom forum about slow speeds in the evening. Eircom don't offer a cooling off period on their contracts either.

    Hi Folks,

changing over to SKY BB and after 6 months it will goto €50 due to distance from the exchange.

    What was your speeds like?

    Cheers

Speeds with Sky were pretty good. I am a long way from the exchange but get around 3.5mb download speed. To be honest it's only because of the price that I'm thinking of changing

I called them to give one months notice and they said that they were going to offer 6 months at half price to all the ones that were on the trial.
however I have since switched to Vodafone as they called and offered unlimited bb for 27 continuous.

That limits your downloads to 20gb a month. Perfect if you keep inside that limit. Also you have no calls on that tarriff. Sky, on the other hand, insist on the customer taking a phone, and on the bb front, they give unlimited downloads. The only way Sky can win more customers is to undercut Eircom & Voda. That is very pertinant now because they are late coming to the efibre party.

I am on unlimited downloads with Vodafone for 27 a month. They offered me a 5 Euro discount on their unlimited broadband only package if I moved back to them. The calls bit didn't matter because almost every call is via mobile these days.
