Not sure if this is the right forum for this so feel free to move it to the appropriate place.

We had to move to New Zealand last january to find work and I am wondering about how long we can stay out of Ireland before we lose any entitlement to 3rd level education assistance if there still is any for my kids. We can't afford to come home for the next 5 years or so and I don't know if my kids would be treated as foreign students then.

I've had some family come back to Ireland in the last few years & you have to be resident in Ireland (or the EEA or Switzerland) for 3 out of the 5 years proceeding the start of your course to be entitled to free fees

Info is just at the top of that page. Not sure about grants etc.

Yes generally educational are based on residency for three of the last 5 years

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
