UFC Fight Pass, will it affect us?

Can someone check if this weekend's fight from Singapore is on BT Sports? I wouldn't have thought that this Fight Pass jazz would affect us. Wouldn't make sense. The Fight Pass is supposedly going to cover those events not aimed at a US audience, including European events.

Just read a report on MMAJunkie saying that Fight Pass was the only place it would air.

Bt issued a statement saying that this event fell outside of their contract and wouldn't be showing it.

Afaik ufc.tv is the only place to view it

How many more events "fall outside their contract" then!!!

This could be a bit of a balls up by BT.

Just found this from the Telegraph...

    http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/garethadavies/100027258/ufc-fight-pass-will-be-netflix-for-fight-fans-faqs-below-little-change-for-bt-sport-viewers/
Nothing changes for BT Sport viewers. All the same shows and UFC events that were scheduled are still to be shown on BT Sport. The six European events are still to be confirmed.

UFC Fight Pass will not be available in the UK before March 1.

The key word there being "events that were scheduled". Nothing to suggest that events won't be scheduled elsewhere from here on.

That said, despite my bitching, $9.99 is only about €7.50 so I may end up paying it. I work a lot of night shifts so access to the Mexico, Canada-Oz and Mexico TUF series may be worthwhile.

Sent a pile of tweets to btsports and btcare and davis.. still nothing!!

home of the ufc yet they cant show the card live or even a reply.

ufc are trying to promote in the UK/ireland etc hence why we dont get charged ppv prices.. how can they promote something when they don't show it?

why the hell am I paying for bt then since theyre not showing all the ufcs events? watching the mma was the only reason I stumped up for the lousy channel in the first place

Hey guys; e-mailed Setanta this morning on behalf of Fighthounds demanding answers will keep you guys posted.

I know it's BT's issue to resolve but will see if Setanta can aid the issue.

Apparently (I don't use twitter but I've heard) BT Sports have tweeted that they will not be showing Fight Night cards outside of the US and Canada.

If that's correct, the UFC will be in London in March and the fight won't even air on UK TV!

Wow, so we have no legal means to watch this card. Fup it, its a terrible card anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭chrisbag1986

These cards are usually the ones with ko's and subs lol

still ragging that I cant watch it on my TV!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

When you click 'buy this video' on ufc.tv you get "Due to broadcast restrictions, this video is not available in your region. Please check your local listings for viewing information.

This event is only available in US, CA, AU, NZ."

Whatever about it not being on BT, but if you can't even purchase it then that's a big feck up.

Not avail in europe til 1st march

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Surely you can purchase individual content before then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Xlami

Judging from https://twitter.com/simonhead and https://twitter.com/btsportufc no one really has a clue.

I'd be surprised if we weren't given access to these cards in the long run. UFC have always been in the business of having their fights available whether it be through Facebook, You Tube, 3rd party sites etc.

However, i'd say the way they will be available in the long run is through a Worldwide version of the site pass.

I'll stick to paying for BT and watching the live PPVs and for these new events i'll just ask my "cousins in America"!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

It's pretty rare that we get events that aren't on so late, i'll be gutted if I can't watch this one live and in good quality. If it was on at 1am I couldn't care less that i can't watch it live, just wake up and download.

UFC United Kingdom just tweeted that it will be shown on BT Sport 1 at 9PM on Saturday. Can't post the link to it at the moment as i'm at work.

Is it delayed as it can not be shown before 9pm. I think the same issue with the uk prelims before?
Glad its shown delayed and hopefully with less adverts then normal fight nights

That's what I meant. If I tape it, I can skip past them. I've actually gotten into the habit of watching prelims on a delay so I can skip past the ads. It really annoys me!

I know hence the smiley. Do it with all events and especially now with the cringe interviews with directors and for troops events.
Hope its a good card and enjoy the fights.

Anyone getting anti virus warning watching this?

Nice win for Holloway. So there is no way to watch this card live?

Prelims were on live on ufc.tv for free, main event is 8.99 for HD. I bought it but not exactly thrilled that the main card only has 4 fights, 1 of which was a DQ. Kawajiri showed some serious skills against Soriano, Soriano is definitely one for the future though. Kang was a beast also one to look out for in future fights.

Worst gameplan of the year goes to Lim. You have a huge reach advantage and you stand right in front of a great technical striker not throwing first and not bothering to check one kick. Decent performance from Saffiedine but he wasn't really tested outside a close first round.

Edit: Wow do I look silly! Saffiedine gasses badly and almost gets knocked out in the last round. If Lim threw first and backed Saffiedine up in that fight he would have won.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,659 ✭✭✭unknown13

Saffiedine was not that impressive. He should have finished Lim. He had so much time to finish him and did not. Other top fighters would have had Lim a round and a half earlier at the latest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Definitely. He hasn't fought in a year though which could explain the gassing but when you have a fighter hopping on one leg in round 3 there are no excuses for not putting him away really.

Do Stann and Anik get a prize for not realising that you can still win a decision even if you've had 2 points deducted?

:pac: Was ridiculously frustrating as he kept on mentioning it, giving out about his corner not telling the fighter to finish too.
