Hi I am trying to understand the rate of VAT on different products. Say I buy hot chocolate in Starbucks for €3, so would I pay the 9% tax (about €0.25) on it or what rate of tax would I pay on that. Again if I buy a Chinese would I have to pay the 9% tax on that also? Thank for your help Stephen

as for understanding why something is such a rate versus another, it is all laid down in the VAT Acts under the schedules (and has to do with both Irish law and European VAT law)
