Songs for pre/post ceremony

I'm looking for recommendations for songs to play whilst guests are arriving and for the drinks reception.

We will be making playlists for our iPod and we will used that. Looking for modern upbeat music as we are in our 20s like this idea of jazz for the reception.

Also would you have music playing in a civil ceremony?

You can have music for a civil ceremony as for any other wedding. The restrictions are that content cannot be religious, although that may be just for readings, so just check with your registrar.
Just make a compilation of songs you both like, something not too loud but nice and in the background so that people can mill around and chat.

Obviously music choice is up to yourselves, but any Civil Ceremonies I've covered music has been used in all of them.

we recorded the music ourselves for the civil ceremony.
My husband does the music for everyone elses wedding so it was way better then when we had the church wedding and used the church pianist, I was so disappointed with it.
