    Hi,
Looking for a play pen but can't seem to find one except for ebay. Would rather buy one in a shop somewhere in Meath, Kildare, Dublin if possible any ideas ?

We use a travel cot.... even something like this will do the trick.

We got a Babydan playpen from Eurobaby http://eurobabynursery.com/ie/product/baby-dan/playpen-white

It is expensive but worth it's weight in gold. Very secure And has a gate so you don't need to be lifting all the time.

Our LO will play happily play in it for about half an hour so I'm able to shower etc in the morning.

My baby hasn't come yet but I wanted to get a playpen for my kitchen as I have 3 dogs after doing a bit of research online I decided just to get a travel cot but got it in full size cot 120 cm x 60 cm (I read something on the "which" site saying it would last longer!) I also bought a foam mattress for it (a lady in symths recommended it as supposedly the mattress can be a bit hard).
I ended up getting this Winnie the Pooh one from argos, it comes with a toy bar on it with 3 characters. I got it in sale €45 and then got baby elegance mattress for €15 (woodies diy have reduced nursery by 50%).

This one from argos is really good and mattress is actually really good that comes with it but it was out of stock at the time plus it is smaller.

The which website also said if you could get a travel cot with 4 see through sides it would be better again. :)

http://www.kiddicare.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_11302_-1_76247_10151 I got this for #2 and no complaints at all.
#3 uses it now and it is safe and strong and very well built.
I have a 2nd very similar one mounted as a fireguard.

We have a travel cot but would rather have a play pen too just to get the LO a bit better on her feet. @sligo1 we ordered one of the baby dan ones from eurobaby will pick it up early next week looking forward to it. We checked all other recommendations but felt the baby dan suited us best thanks to all who replied for taking the time.:p

thinking about getting a play pen or travel cot for the kitchen.

Until what age did you roughly use them?

DS is 6.5 months and already 11.5kg - I'm hoping his weight gain will slow down a bit when he gets a bit more mobile, but most travel cots are only up to 15kg... Dont want to buy one if I can only use it for a short while and would prefer one that can be quickly dissasembled as the kitchen isnt that big, although I love the look of the wooden ones.
My sister has this one which is great as you can just fold it up in about 5 seconds, but only up to 15 kg...

If you check there site you'll see it. It has a play matt in it and the have mattress to fit too if needed for sleeping

They're a great investment IMO. We used ours for halving the kitchen to keep the smallest fella away from the cooker. Now we use it as a stove guard in the winter.

We did this too. We have the BabyDan one, first baby would sit happily in it for ages. Second baby hated it (he hated any form of confinement) but he ended up using it as a room divider (though we did have to buy extra parts to make it long enough) so at least he had the space he needed to roam and we had the comfort knowing he was safely confined to a certain part of a room.

I have the Kiddicare Wooden Playpen as well (http://www.kiddicare.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_11302_-1_121356_10151), and I have it in the kitchen. Great yoke, because now I can cook and little miss can watch, and be in a safe place. She loves it. very sturdy, too.
I've really been using mine a lot since she got more mobile :p

Ordered the babydan yesterday, seemed to suit us best with his weight although there were some lovely wooden ones where you can change the hight of the base that I would have preferred, but only up to 15 kg.
