    The second last independent qualifying competition of the 2013/14 National Pike Championships will be held on lakes in the Newbliss area on Sunday. Interested anglers should check in that the Stag Inn in Newbliss from 9.30 for fishing 11 to 4. The entry fee is €15 and there is an optional €5 pool for the best pike on the day. To enter you do need to be a member of one of the 70+ clubs affiliated to the Irish Federation on Pike Angling Clubs. If you are not a member of one of these you can easily join one at the check in for €10 for the year. The top 5 anglers go through to fish in the Final next May. The top angler in the Final will become the National Pike Champion and will captain the top 10 anglers from the Final in an International Team Challenge against Great Britain which will be held next October.For full details phone Sean Markey on 087 3667198
