    Hi,
I sent off a p45 and p50 before Christmas and received a letter back from revenue on the 22/23rd December saying I was due a refund. I gave my bank details to have it transferred to my account but there i no sign of it. I'm just wondering how long this process takes and if this is normal?
    Thanks

Revenue are usually very quick at processing refunds.

Usually they send out a balancing statement which shows what refund is due (I assume this is what you got on 22/23 dec)

Keep in mind the time of year and banking hours, most simple transactions are only starting to show now such as cheque lodgements etc.. I would say perhaps another couple of days and you should see a credit with description "Collector General" on your online banking.

You should register for PAYE Anytime (If you are PAYE) or ROS and do it all online, save paper / post delays.

Yes I got the balancing statement before Christmas, sorry didn't know it was called that. Yeah I can see how it would take an extra few days alright. I'll give it a few days and then maybe phone them if I don't see anything back.
    Thanks for your help.

I got mine within a week. I was pleasantly surprised as I had been expecting quite a long wait.

The fact you have your balancing statement tells me it wont be long. I personally would give it a week from tomorrow before calling just to be sure its not stuck somewhere in bank-land.

Refunds usually issue within 3 working days of a review being processed. However as it's the Christmas period and Revenue offices won't exactly be operating at full capacity until next week, it may take a little longer.

Also there are a portion of all reviews which are processed which get randomly selected for higher level checking which require a manger to manually review the claim. This can slow the whole process down.
